#100 - David Hasselhoff

NAME: David Hasselhoff

NICKNAME: The Hoff

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: From humble beginnings as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr. on the soap opera the Young and the Restless, and Boner on the critically acclaimed film Revenge of the Cheerleaders, David Hasselhoff found the role of a lifetime in the 1982 television series Knight Rider. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-E8u2o48ts Starring as Michael Knight, a crimefighter who uses the help of a car who is smarter, cooler, and more popular than he is, Hasselhoff's fame took off to dizzying heights.

In the late 80's, The Hoff honed in on his singing craft, and released the revolutionary music video entitled "Looking for Freedom", a song literally about looking for freedom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ot_katYYiU Note the powerful lyrics in the chorus: I've been lookin' for freedom/I've been lookin' so long/Ive been lookin' for freedom/Still the search goes on. Obviously, Hasselhoff wasn't about to coast through life on the success of Knight Rider. He wanted to give back to America - to share his vision and ideals with those who needed it the most.

In 1989, Hasselhoff cemented his legacy with his humanistic portrayal of Mitch Buchanon, a male lifeguard who saves lives in speedos while facing man's greatest foe - nature. While some say supporting female actresses Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth, Gena Lee Nolin, Erika Eleniak, Brooke Burns, Nicole Eggert, and Krista Allen were the main reason for the Baywatch's success http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9UPh7KKyfs, it was Hasselhoff's constant presence that stabilized the show and kept it grounded in realism.

Finally, The Hoff took youtube by storm, armed with nothing more than eloquence and a hamburger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH3JAp7vMuo
